GAME DISCOVERY / OFFLINE IDLE RPG

Grim Reach Idle: your next session starts with a queue

Gather the materials, make the equipment, then put it to work. This dark-fantasy RPG connects the jobs you plan before stepping away.

Plan the chain, then leave it running

The appealing promise in Grim Reach Idle is a plan that survives closing the game. Mining produces ore; smithing turns it into equipment; combat gives that equipment something to do. A shared queue connects gathering, crafting and fights, with offline progress continuing the work.

That dependency chain is what catches my attention. Choosing the next activity also means thinking about what comes after it: another supply of materials, a better tool, or a creature your current equipment can handle. The queue includes a projected skill level, giving a long sequence a visible destination.

There are 22 skills, three combat styles and a settlement whose buildings process resources on their own schedules. Dungeons can join the same queue. Auto-battle and auto-eat handle repeated execution; equipment and preparation remain part of the player's plan.

An RPG for people who like arranging work

This is a menu-led idle RPG, with dense panels for skills, gear and progression. The screenshots make its priorities clear: compare a yield, inspect a requirement, choose how often to repeat an action. Someone looking for direct movement and reflex combat should keep that distinction in view.

For a player who enjoys preparing a character and returning to the results, the combination is more specific. Crafting feeds the equipment system, combat opens further goals, and the town adds another production schedule. The developer also specifies no microtransactions, energy systems or timers you can pay to skip.

Extensive AI implementation, human game direction

The creator reports using Claude for extensive implementation and subsequent fixes, while retaining game design and decisions about what to ship. Steam separately identifies generated item, equipment and creature artwork.

The developer's account describes a person choosing features, responding to players and directing revisions. The Steam disclosure also says generated artwork may be replaced with handcrafted work as the project's budget grows; it gives no completion date. Conventional automated combat and offline calculation are separate from that development process.
